Hey! I am doing this write-up on the Dead Dude Project, and I will include my honest opinion at the end. I have always said I will be transparent so… one of the co-devs contacted me (close to two weeks ago) and asked for my opinion in terms of roadmap, mint price, etc… I gave them my advice as I wasn’t quite impressed with the project at first. Eventually, he asked me to include them in my upcoming projects newsletter (It is hard to keep track of all the projects, so sometimes projects reach out and share with me their upcoming launch and ask me to include it in my upcoming projects newsletter, for free of course). The more projects I include the better as it makes the list more comprehensive.
Regardless, I offered to do a write-up on this project and he agreed! Later down the road, we agreed to do a partnered giveaway and I will be receiving another Dead Dude into my “community wallet” which will be used for promotions, giveaways, and rewards for my Substack subscribers! I will be making a detailed post regarding said “community wallet”, if you would like to contribute it will be used for giveaways, promotions, and supporting small artists by buying their 1/1s. The Basics: Dead Dudes is a collection of 4,444 zombie NFTs. Minting starts on August 1st at 3 PM EST with a mint price of 0.044eth. One thing I would like to say off the back is that the team has been very responsive to feedback from the community, starting from dropping the mint price from 0.08eth to upgrading the roadmap. There is also a transaction limit of 10 Dead Dudes, which is a bit different from the common standard of 20. There are 190+ potential attributes, which should produce some interesting combinations. There will also be an instant reveal upon minting!
Some example art from their website!
The Mansion: From their website: “After minting is complete, we'll start working on the Mansion, an exclusive virtual platform where the Dudes hang out and do cool shit together. The Mansion has three foundational pillars: creativity, democracy, and degeneracy.” Inside the Mansion there will be a Creator’s lounge (collaborative and creative space within the community). The first project from the Creator’s Lounge will be a community drop, which will consist of artwork created by community members but released under the Dead Dudes brand. All the proceeds (mint+royalties) from this community drop will be distributed across the wallets of the artists with a portion going into the community wallet to fund future projects!
Daniel’s thoughts: To me, this idea of having the community create art and explore their creativity while also paying dividends to them is pretty neat and innovative. I haven’t seen anything like that. It is a cool concept that those who contribute will receive royalty sharing from their art, being released as part of the Dead Dudes brand.
The Townhall and The Cave: The Townhall is a spot in the mansion where Dudes can “collectively debate their interests”. Essentially putting the future of the project in the community’s hands including voting on future ideas and projects. While the Cave will let the Dudes participate in poker nights, movie nights, surprise giveaways, and more!
The Roadmap: The roadmap includes; a merch store, graffiti art, liquidity pool, and a community wallet (10eth), a companion nft, Metaverse land purchase and mansion reveal, and lastly the community drop with revenue sharing.
The team has some good FAQs on their website, but here are some of my favorites. The metaverse land will either be in Decentraland or Sandbox. Post mint, 50% of secondary royalties (2%) will be transferred to the community wallet. The “busy” backgrounds will be removable.
Here is the Link Tree to all their information!
What are my final thoughts? Let us get into this… when the project was first pitched to me, I saw no differentiators from all the other projects coming out on a daily basis. But now they have a couple of things that could be quite lucrative such as their community drop as part of the Creator’s lounge and the Mansion as a whole. To me, it looks as if the team is very dedicated to giving back and rewarding holders which is one of my favorite things to see. I do think it’s still on the pricey side but considering how small of a collection it is compared to most projects, I am probably just spoiled after Cool Cats… Either way, I am excited for mint day but the art doesn't fully resonate with me and gives off a Misfit style (art-wise). I also really like that the backgrounds will be removable. I have not committed to mint as of this moment but I will be watching them! Please do your own research, if this sounds like a project you would like then join the discord and give them a follow, check out their website, and stay on top of it during the mint day!
As always, feedback is appreciated as well as subscribing and sharing with other community members! I can’t wait for the next write-up!
P.S. Make sure to join the giveaway on my Twitter!
Always a great read! Not a product that resonates with me, but admire the effort and transparency! Of course that might all change were i to win one lol
