NFT Power Rankings Edition #2
Hi! I am Cryptopunk #7271 and would like to share my thoughts and opinions on all these avatar projects! I have some background information about myself on my pinned tweet (@daniel100eth). This will be my second power ranking newsletter so I am still experimenting with different styles and formats.
There has been a surge in the generative profile pic (pfp) niche in the last two months ever since Bored Ape Yacht Club. It seems like every day multiple new projects are launching, I can think of at least 40 different pfp projects. I will be ranking my top choices, doing some analysis, and linking their social media accounts! From day one I have been wanting to provide value to all those who follow me. I finally can. I will always be upfront with my followers about what I own and what I do not own. Those with a (Y) means “Yes I own” and those with a (N) means “no I do not own”. Enjoy!
Cryptopunks: The most historically significant NFT in my opinion. When I learned about NFTs less than three months ago and learned about Cryptopunks I thought they were a complete joke. Spending thousands to millions of dollars on pixels…. how odd, I couldn’t wrap my head around spending so much money on one. As I did more research I realized they are not a PFP but rather a collectible, it is the best bet in the NFT space, if you’re bullish on NFTs you’re bullish on Punks. I eventually was fortunate enough to buy a Punk from flipping, I spent $45,000 on Cryptopunk #7271 because I think the possibilities are endless. Personally not the biggest fan of Larva Labs, I strongly believe a team like BAYC would do wonders for Punks but I also understand not wanting to change a historical collection. Cryptopunks will always be king, always will be the number one “avatar” and collectible. (Y)

Bored Ape Yacht Club: I wanted this to be my first NFT purchase, it was the night of minting and my first NFT was NBA Topshot so I had no clue how to work a Metamask or what a seed phrase was, or how Opensea works. I was lost and had no one to help, so I missed out. The art is celebrated and love, the team is smart and provides value, floor hit almost 8eth two months after minting at .08eth. The Bored Ape Kennel Club airdrop was huge for the project and really solidified its longevity in the space, I think this project is really the only avatar here to stay for the long haul. Once we enter a bear market, I think two main projects will survive; Cryptopunks and Apes. In terms of volume, the Bored Ape Club has consistently stayed on top in terms of eth volume. There have also been some massive sales ranging from 50-100eth! The floor is 6.9eth as of today and they have one of the best holder distributions at a little 48%. I flipped in and out of apes but currently do not have one, I aim to get one eventually though! (N)
Floor: 6.75eth # Listed: 2,187 Unique Wallets: 4,889 Volume 7d: 6,419eth
Cool Cats: Cool Cats have not let up from the gas pedal, the floor has been bouncy these last few days hitting a high around 0.94eth but as of this moment the floor is at 0.68eth. They have delivered on two airdrops already one of them is a collaboration with Ghxsts. Many people within the community feel as though Cool Cats will be in third place after Cryptopunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club in the long term. I have a few thoughts on this; I do not think they would be at the current floor without the heavy pump of a handful of community members partnered with Punks. For better or for worse, they were pumped hard but they haven’t been dumped. Many people believe these will overtake Gutter Cats as the third-place avatar project. The volume has been off the charts, the number of unique wallets has grown daily to 3,400 now, up 100 from 4 days ago. The team has been transparent and communicative, they’ve released a cool roadmap and have already done a couple of airdrops I believe. One thing I didn’t mention is all the celebrities who are part of the Cool Cats crew such as Mike Tyson. The Cool Cat character has been built for years and just radiates good vibes and that’s something lots of projects are missing! (N)
Floor: 0.689eth # Listed: 2,344 Unique Wallets: 3,408 Volume 7d: 1,241eth
Gutter Cat Gang: I think the Gutter Cats are still hanging in third place in terms of avatar projects even with the competition with Cool Cats. They have been around longer, and have cultivated a real community. There are only 3,000 of them and almost 1,400 holders giving it a great holder distribution. The team has been pushing and working hard to provide value from 3D Metaverse avatars to airdrops to a comic! The volume is decent. They pride themselves on the unique community they built up, so if you haven’t already, check their discord out! (I did flip but do not own any at the moment). (N)
Floor: 1.18eth # Listed: 870 Unique Wallets: 1,397 Volume 7d: 451eth
Sup Ducks: I have not seen any news or announcements regarding this project but I strongly believe that these have deserved to move up in the rankings. Even with the whole scandal and conspiracy theory about the pump which I still think is true to some extent (I think these were heavily manipulated but not internally). It looks like the number of holders has grown and the floor has stayed very stable. Overall, I think they’re laying the foundation and building a unique community from the ground up. They did publish an awesome roadmap that includes a merch store, an app, and even an animated series. The team is quite ambitious and if you passed on it, it may be worth another look. (N)

Art Blocks: Art Blocks is a bit complex and @zeneca_33 explains it perfectly in this article. Essentially it is a large-scale generative artwork platform, featuring many different artists. Earlier today there was an Art Blocks drop and to the few people I talked with who were able to mint one, they paid over 1,000 GWEI some over 1,200 (so you can imagine the demand). I believe lots of the pieces are undervalued for the long term and we can see lots of smart money rotating away from avatar projects into Art Blocks! If you’re interested in buying a piece, Chromie Squiggles are the first art blocks piece and may be worth the look on this dip after hitting an all-time high a few days ago! (N)
Ghxsts: Alright, if you haven’t heard of this project by now, I don’t know what to tell you. This was the first mainstream 1/1 original, hand-drawn art project. It has seen some insane growth. It started with Ghxsts, but there are now Lunars, Zxdiacs, and Pxin Gxng memes. It is all being run by Gxng Yxng, a one-man team for such a large project but he is on it full time and has built something really special! He rewards holders consistently, even with airdrops and he has some huge plans for the future of the collection including Manga. The community is also helpful and will gladly welcome you and point you in the right direction. (N)
GOATZ: Launched on July 8th at a .05 mint price. There were about 1,600 minters and now there are over 2,500 unique wallets. From day one, the team has not missed, they have delivered daily announcements and updates. They created a forge preview for us to be able to preview different combinations. It does not combine with your wallet so you can just mix and match traits, a quick FYI; the preview does not represent what the actual forge UI will look like. The forge allows you to put two Goatz in and pick your favorite traits from each Goat and create your dream avatar while the parents are burned. The forge is planned to launch in the 1st week of August. Once the forge opens and supply dwindles, the unique ownership % will rise drastically and so will the floor. (Y)

Veefriends: This is not your run-of-the-mill generative art project, it’s Gary Vee’s doodles backed by plenty of utility. There are a little over 10,000 tokens with different rarities, each token is a ticket into Veecon for the next three years. Gary wants to create a brand out of these, he wants to be the next Disney. I see Veefriend’s like a bet on Gary Vee, that is the selling point. I think this project is still in its infancy and if you have the eth I would look into it more, but only for the long term (a few years at least). Another huge selling point is the community, Gary brought in lots of outsiders into his project from launch and I think this will help support the project in the long term. One last thing is Gary Vee hinted about a wave of announcements coming in August, so I would join the discord and keep your eyes on this. (N)

Lonely Alien Space Club: Where do I start… okay so the first time I saw this project, I didn’t like the art and eventually didn’t put it on my watchlist. Later I saw they were still minting, I decided to give them a second look but the art didn’t nail it for me and neither did the discord. The second day, the art was growing on me quite rapidly and the discord had a completely different vibe. I love my aliens and honestly, it’s probably the first project I am excited about the merch drop. The team is amazing and has been extremely active, I will be doing a full write-up either today or tomorrow on this project to give an in-depth dive into why I am so bullish on it! (Y)
Floor: .055eth # Listed: 2,476 Unique Wallets: 1,675 Volume 7d: 190.47eth
The Doge Pound: This is a new project. Launched about a week ago at 0.069eth per mint. They have not been on my radar until someone told me about them, at first I dismissed it without even looking because I thought it was just a meme. I was wrong. The roadmap is pretty cool, including donations, merch, and 3d metaverse avatars. I will have to do a deep dive soon but so far with the current volume and floor price, it is not something to brush off. (N)
Floor: 0.378eth # Listed: 2,846 Unique Wallets: 2,076 Volume 7d: 1,053eth
Crypto Hodlers: Launched at a 0.04eth mint price with the whole concept of rewarding those who hold. They were struggling to sell out but when Pranksy endorsed them publicly on Twitter they sold out in less than 40 minutes. They added diversity as there are about the same number of males as females! They are building out a naming feature, and this coming from their site “We have plans to incentivize hodling Hodlers using OpenSea Royalties, stay tuned..”. (N)
Floor: 0.065eth # Listed: 1,918 Unique Wallets: 1,612 Volume 7d: 754eth
Bulls on the Block: This is definitely an interesting project, they had a rough launch mainly because of the insane gas fees, then we saw them moon before rapidly falling back to just above the mint price. The art is original and cool but also very “messy” a lot is going on in each picture. The team also seems determined to make the project succeed and their biggest selling point was a community wallet which they loaded with 90eth and let the community vote and decided what to do with it. I still do not like the rarity distribution, but they made some interesting announcements on the future of the project. The comic is coming, they announced a collaboration with BYOPills and also announced the Bear airdrop is coming soon as well. (N)
Floor: 0.265eth # Listed: 2,091 Unique Wallets: 2,930 Volume 7d: 497eth
The Wicked Craniums: These did really good on the mint day, sold out in 30 minutes, and were hyped up, floor rocketed that same day. The team seems very smart and determined to make it one of the projects that succeed, so if you wrote it off, I would recommend going back and looking into it. They are organizing a hackathon, creating AR filters that you can use on Instagram, announced the merch drop (all profits go to the community wallet), and lots of other community events! Another thing I will say, for a project that’s just over one month old, they have made some insane strides with the number of unique holders (a good sign imo) (N)
Floor: 0.30eth # Listed: 2,610 Unique Wallets: 3,395 Volume 7d: 434eth
- 20. Fame Lady Squad (N), The Visitors of Imma Degen (N), Untamed Elephants (Y), Royal Society of Players (N), Deadheads (N), BYOPills (N). (in no particular order). I would recommend looking into these as well.
One thing I want to say, I can think of at least 50 projects and there are multiple new ones every day. I will keep producing content, from articles on Sleeper Projects, Recently Launched, Upcoming Projects, and even Best Value Plays. It is hard to pick just 15-20 projects to put into the power ranking, so I apologize if certain projects are not featured here, I will try to feature them in other articles. Feedback on the style, format, and content would be appreciated as well as subscribing and sharing with other NFT community members.
Lastly, I have created a separate wallet in which I aim to receive ETH contributions and will use on 1/1 works to support budding and thriving artists alike. Basically, I created a wallet for donations/tips in which 100% of revenue will go back into the NFT space aimed at buying smaller artist’s works and it will all be trackable via wallet address! This is the wallet address if you’re interested in helping support smaller artists! Thank you for reading! 0x0bb7bF1B64f79641f039184D51e3c65ADBf63a40
P.S. DannyUkes will also be releasing his own power rankings every Friday. I will be releasing my personal power rankings (like this one), every Friday.
Should go without saying but this is all my opinion and not financial advice. Please do your own research!
